Furniture Care

Caring for your furniture

Natural materials are meant to live. Wood shifts gently with the seasons, leather softens, fabric settles in — and with a little care, each piece only deepens in character over the years. Here is how to look after what you bring home.

Reclaimed wood

Reclaimed woods are marked by the environment and the passage of time. Small knots, splits, and cracks are preserved on purpose — they are part of each piece's character. Because it is salvaged, the wood naturally responds to changes in temperature and humidity.

  • Dust regularly with a clean, dry cloth, moving in the direction of the grain.
  • Avoid furniture polish, ammonia-based cleaners, and other chemicals.
  • Wipe spills immediately with a dry, soft cloth.
  • Use coasters, placemats, and trivets to protect against wet or hot cups and dishes.
  • Keep sharp objects from direct contact with the surface to prevent scratching.
  • Keep out of direct sunlight.
  • Always lift and carry when moving — never drag.

Applies to: Cobain Dining Table in Reclaimed Mango.

Solid wood & veneer

Solid walnut, oak, and mango are living surfaces that respond to their surroundings. A little routine care keeps the grain rich and the finish even.

  • Dust with a soft, dry cloth along the grain.
  • Skip polishes, ammonia, and harsh chemicals.
  • Blot spills right away; never let liquid sit.
  • Use coasters, placemats, and trivets under anything wet or hot.
  • Keep out of prolonged direct sunlight, which can fade and dry the wood.
  • Aim for stable indoor humidity where you can.
  • Lift to move; dragging stresses the joints.

Applies to: Arturo Coffee Table (walnut), Mika Dining Table (oak), Cobain Dining Table in Flint Black (mango).

Performance fabric

Performance weaves are built to shrug off daily life, but a little routine care keeps them looking their best.

  • Vacuum regularly with an upholstery attachment; rotate and fluff loose cushions so they wear evenly.
  • Blot spills immediately with a clean, dry cloth — press, do not rub.
  • Most performance fabrics clean with a water-based solution; always test in a hidden spot first.
  • Keep out of prolonged direct sunlight to prevent fading.

Applies to: Boone, Kent (fabric covers), Gianna, Mariano, Aurora, Jayla.
Confirm each piece's cleaning code (W, S, or X) on its spec sheet before cleaning.

Leather & nubuck

Leather is a natural material that develops a richer patina with use. Small variations in grain and tone are part of its character.

  • Dust and wipe gently with a soft, dry cloth.
  • Keep away from direct sunlight and heat sources, which can dry and crack the hide.
  • Blot spills immediately; avoid soaps, solvents, and harsh chemicals.
  • For nubuck, brush lightly with a soft, dry cloth or suede brush, and protect from liquids — nubuck absorbs readily.
  • Condition occasionally with a leather-appropriate product if the hide calls for it (test first).

Applies to: Kent Sofa (Dulane Mahogany leather), Julius Swivel Chair (Nubuck Cognac).

Metal & brass

  • Wipe with a soft, dry or barely damp cloth, then dry thoroughly.
  • Avoid abrasive cleaners and pads, which scratch the finish.
  • Living finishes such as brushed brass may mellow over time — part of their charm.

Applies to: caster and base details on select pieces.
